Worried that the coming of a new baby will change the warm familiar life on her family's Vermont farm, ten-year-old Ariel and her Grandma plan a special gift for the baby, combining Ariel's drawing talent and Grandma's sewing skills. But then Grandma has a stroke and can't finish the quilt without Ariel's help. Ariel must come to terms with the thought of Grandma growing old, and it's very hard, but a special gift from Grandma helps Ariel feel safe, loved, and looking forward to the future.
