Book Descriptions
for Children as Teachers of Peace by Gerald G. Jampolsky
From The Jane Addams Children's Book Award
Workbook-like in size, appearance and intent, this compendium of art, poetry, sayings, letters and compositions by children presents expressive responses to three prompts: Peace Is, What Peace Means to Me and If I Were a Teacher to World Leaders I Would Say. Assembled from entries submitted from throughout the United States, the children's words and images are heartfelt, yet mostly sentimental and reflective of domestic life. The missives to world leaders, though, reach beyond the personal, showing concern for the future of all people and knowledge that national and international politics will shape that future.
