Lullah Royall, a little black girl, comes to a newly-integrated parochial school in Louisiana. Then the appearance of two menacing strangers, Mr. Buzzard and Mr. Gator, is followed by abusive calls and threats of violence and suddenly the ten-year-old finds herself the only pupil in school.
