Carolyn Hennesy: Hello. My name is Carolyn Hennesy. Hennesy rhymes with Tennessee, which is a state in the United States. Hennesy is originally Irish, so there was usually an O and an apostrophe placed before the name, as in O'Hennesy, but when my ancestors came over from Ireland, they simply shortened it to Hennesy. Hennesy is also the name of a French cognac company, and if I were related to the cognac Hennesys in any way, I might not be writing, but would be living a life of luxury on the French Riviera.
