Jean E. Pendziwol: Hi. My name is Jean E. Pendziwol. "E" is my middle initial. I won't tell you what it stands for. So my name can be pronounced Jean but I also get called Jeanne. Either one is fine. I married into the name Pendziwol. It looks hard, but I really isn't once you realize that the "D" is silent. The origin of the name is likely Austrian/Ukrainian.

When the Pendziwol family first came to Canada, they were illiterate and unable to write their own name. So when they registered their children at birth, the person writing down the information had to guess how it was spelled. There ended up being a few different versions. If you break down the name into three different syllables, and forgot about the "D," it's much easier, Pen-zi-wol.
