Sheela Chari: Hi. My name is Sheela Chari. The name Sheela is an Indian name, but interestingly, it's also an Irish name, and if you're in Australia, you might refer to a young girl as a sheila. There have been a few songs with the name Sheila, and my favorite is an oldie by Tommy Roe, but in India, and specifically in Sanskrit, the name Sheela means character, or good character as I like to hope. Chari is my married name, and it rhymes with sorry. I took the name Chari because my maiden name was really long and hard to pronounce when I was growing up.
