Aliki: Hello. My name is Aliki. A-L-I-K-I. It is a Greek name. Aliki doesn't have a meaning. It just has a sound. I use only Aliki because I have two long last names. I was born Aliki Liacouras. In Greek, it is pronounced YA-koras. It is the name of the highest peak on Mt. Parnassus. Then I married Franz Brandenberg with another long name. Brandenberg is Swiss. It means burning mountain. Though we both have names relating to mountains, I prefer the sea. When I started writing and illustrating children's books, I thought Aliki Liacouras Brandenberg would fall off the cover, so I just used my first name. I guess it's a friendly name too because when I meet children, they seem to know me. They remember Aliki and seem to know that I love them. Happy reading forever.
