Janan Cain: Hello. My name is Janan Cain. I will start with my last name first because that is the easiest to pronounce, Cain. Never had any problem with that. That is my husband's name, and it's an English name. My first name, Janan, however, is very difficult for most people to pronounce. I was told, growing up, that my name Janan came from my grandmother, my aunt, and my mother. My aunt is Janet, Jan. My grandmother is Ann, and my mom is Nancy, Nan. Jan, Ann, Nan, and they came up with Janan. That's what my mother told me, but years later my father told me that that was not true at all and that my mother just had a friend named Janan, and she really liked the name, so that is how I got the name Janan. When I meet people, I have to tell them Janan rhymes with Japan or sounds like Japan in order for them to be able to remember it and pronounce it. Inevitably, somebody will always call me Japan, which I don't really care for, so if you can say Japan, you can say Janan.
