Arvis Boughman: My name is Arvis Boughman. I understand that my mother and father poured over a name book for many days, trying to figure out a name when they agreed on this one because I think it meant something like son of the morning, and so I was born pretty much in the wee hours of the morning. My dad is non-Native, and his family, they changed their name because of a family squabble. So, one family didn't want anything to do with the other side. It's mainly a Scotch Irish name, but my given Native name is inaudible, which means one who looks inside. One of the elders told me, said, "You know, your greatest strength is that you, first of all, look to your creator for answers but also, you have confidence about your inner thoughts and inner feelings too. So, look inside for a lot of answers." I'm proud of both my names. That's how my, I guess my name came to be.
