Jessica Fries-Gaither: I'm Jessica Fries-Gaither and growing up I was Jessica Fries. It looks like fries. And so growing up my entire life I heard french fry jokes and McDonald's. I even had the misfortune of going to school with a boy whose last name was Burger. And so everyone loved to tell us, "You should get married and have kids, and they could be named Milkshake and Ketchup." And neither of us liked that very much. And so it was definitely a name that I was always correcting people. But when I got married though, I realized that I was still very attached to it. And so I chose to hyphenate and become Jessica Fries-Gaither, which is two hard to pronounce last names in a row, which makes it impossible for kids. My students call me Mrs. FG for short, and that's perfectly fine by me.
