Roch Carrier: Hello. My name is Roch Carrier. In English, when you say my name Carrier, it means that's somebody that carries something. In French, it doesn't have the same meaning. And now, it's getting complicated. When my ancestors came to Canada, to Quebec in 1670, their name was Lebruin. Lebruin is the equivalent of brown in English.

So they came, they had children.
And their children had children. And their children had children. And so there were many families out called Lebruin, brown. And all of them, the men were called Joseph. So there was a lot of Joseph Lebruin. And my ancestors, this branch was working in a quarry. It was a time that they were building churches. And they were building a lot of new buildings and they were working in a quarry. In French, people who works in a quarry is a carrier. So the name comes from the builders of the country of that time.
