Michelle Zink: Hello. My name is Michelle Zink. My first name Michelle was given to me by my mother shortly after the song Michelle Ma Belle by The Beatles became very popular.
For a long time, I hated the name. In third grade, there were actually three Michelles in my class. Because of this, two of us were given nicknames that we were supposed to use throughout the year. I was given the nickname Micky, which I liked for all of about a week. After that, I decided that Michelle was not such a bad name after all.
My last name Zink is my married name and it's spelled with a K at the end instead of a C, Z-I-N-K. I actually like my last name a lot in all but one way, and that is that all of my books are shelved at the very bottom sort of corner at the end in every bookstore. You actually have to look down in order to find my books a lot of times.
I also like my last name because I have a lot of teenagers that I sort of mother in addition to my own and I'm often called Mama Z or Mom Z or Mrs. Z. Somehow, I think that that wouldn't sound quite the same with any other letter of the alphabet.
