Jana Laiz: Hello. My name is Jana Laiz. My first name is pronounced Jana. Growing up, my teachers never got it right, and I was always correcting them. They called me Jayna, Jona, Janet, Janis, Jan, but rarely Jana. I don't think it's too hard. I was named after my great-grandmother Johana, and also an Italian movie star that my mother liked named Jana Maria Cannali. My last name is Laiz. That's La-iz. As if in do, ra, mi, fa, so, la, and iz, easy. It's not lays or lies. It's my married name and it's from the Philippines where all vowels are given their own syllables. Once again, It's Jana Laiz.
