Kate Messner: Hi there. My name is Kate Messner. You can just remember that my desk is usually a mess. My given name is Lyn Katherine because my parents knew they wanted to call me Kate but my father liked the name Lyn. So they settled on naming me Lyn Katherine but calling me Kate. When I was in school I really hated that because every year on the first day, the teacher would call my name, "Lyn, is Lyn here?" It always took a while to realize that I should answer. I worried they thought I wasn't paying attention.
