David Hyde Costello: Hello, this is David Hyde Costello.
People often think that I'm Italian but the Costellos in my ancestry are actually from Ireland.
According to my dad, in Ireland, they pronounce it COS-tello, but somehow the emphasis got moved to the middle syllable for Cos-TELL-o.
My middle name, Hyde, is my maternal grandmother's maiden name. I started using it on my books just so people could find me more easily if they did a web search.
