Myrick is actually a corruption of the Welsh name Merrick, which when my ancestors came here a few hundred years ago from Wales, it was spelled Merrick. It was changed somewhere along the way. Then my first name Leland, somewhat an unusual name. I don't meet too many other people named Leland, but I asked my parents when I was a little older how I got that name. They said, "Well, your twin brother, we named him after your uncle Lloyd, so we were looking for another name that started L that was somewhat strange also, so we picked Leland." That's how I got it.
