You may have heard of William Randolph Hearst, who was one of the pioneers of newspaper publishing, or you may have heard of his granddaughter Patty Hearst, who was a convicted bank robber, among other things. I am not related to either of those people. My last name Hearst, although it is spelled the same, is actually shortened from the eastern European name Hearstsowitz, but I thought I would just tell you those stories anyway because maybe that would help you remember my last name, which is Hearst.
