Emily Arnold McCully: Hello, my name is Emily Arnold McCully. When I was growing up I was just Emily Arnold. There weren't very many Emilys around; it was a very old-fashioned name. In fact, I was named for a great grandmother, and I have a book of hers with her name in it, from the 1850s. I was also named for one of my mother's favorite authors, Emily Bronte. But what I really liked about my name was Arnold. I was told that Arnold means strong as an eagle and I thought that was great.
