Kristin Kladstrup: Hello. My name is Kristen Kladstrup. My last name is Danish or at least it started out being Danish. According to family stories, when my great grandfather Peter first came to the United States from Denmark, his last name was Neilson. He was told by US authorities that there were too many Neilson's coming into America and he would have to change his name. He ended up using the name of the town he was from, Klaestrup, spelled K-L-A-E-S-T-R-U-P but somebody, probably some official writing out some form, misspelled the town's name as K-L-A-D-S-T-R-U-P. The nice thing about this mistake is that I always know I'm related to anybody named Kladstrup.
