Alhan Rahimi: Hello, my name is Alhan Rahimi. My name is originally an Arabic name and the proper pronunciation, or the Arabic original pronunciation of it is Alhan Rahimi because it's not very easy to pronounce that deep h sound, that's why I go by Alhan Rahimi when I'm speaking to English-speaking people.
If you meet a person from an Arab origin you can always ask them, "What does your name mean?" And it will usually have a meaning. The meaning of my name, Alhan, is melodies. Even for Arab-speaking people, it's not very common to use this noun as a name. So, I would always get comments on my name when I was in school.
One of my mathematics teacher was asking me, "What is your father's profession? Is he a musician that made him call you Melody?" I was like, "No actually, he is not and it was my mother's choice that she made before even getting to decide that she was gonna get married."
So, when she was around 19 or 20 she met this little girl who was two and was named Alhan and she always had in her mind that if one day she gets a girl, she will name her Alhan. It was very nice when I got to meet this other person who was named Alhan, and I was named after her. And yeah, that's the story of my name.
