Carlos Hernandez: Hi, my name is Carlos Hernandez. Now, my name, I pronounced it in kind of an Americanized way, which I've used for most of my life. Technically, my name takes an accent over the A in Hernandez, and you don't pronounce the H so it'd be Carlos Ernandez, if you were going to say it with a Spanish/Cuban accent. And I answer to either, but I'm an American-born first-generation Cuban, and so it took me a while to even learn that my name officially, if it came from Spain, would take an accent over it. I never knew to write it that way and my parents never wrote it that way or anything--part of the assimilation process in the United States, I think. So if you call me Hernandez or Ernandez, either is fine with me. Also, if you check my Facebook page, you know how they give you the pronunciation guide? I had a little bit of fun there and I put my pronunciation as Carlos "arr-arr-arr-arr-arr" Hernandez, just because I thought it would be funny. So go have a laugh and click on that.
