Isabella Kung: Hello. My name is Isabella Kung. I was born in Hong Kong back when it was still a British colony, so it was very common to be given a Chinese name and an English name. My Chinese name is Nam Yi but I prefer to go by my English name because in Cantonese, my name sounds very similar to the term boy, and Isabella is a lovely name my dad picked out.

My last name, Kung, spelled K-U-N-G, is a beautiful and uncommon last name.
But funny story, I cried when I first tried to learn how to write my last name in kindergarten. My last name had so many strokes, and it's so complicated. My little brain just couldn't handle copying it 20 times. Despite my early feelings, I love all my names now and wouldn't change it for anything.
