Sara Lövestam: Hello, my name is Sara Lövestam. It's a Swedish name and quite the challenge for any English speaker who wants to pronounce it correctly, but let's give it a try. First, there's Sara. The first A is not like the A in man, but the A in far, like Ah. And the R is a slightly rolling R, so it's Sara.

Now for my last name, the Ö with two dots is pronounced EUH.
The only way to make it right is to pout your lips and then make them a square shape. I'm sorry, but it's the only way. Swedes do it all the time. By the way, Ö is considered a letter of its own in the Swedish alphabet, which contains 29 letters of which nine are vowels, A, E, I, O, U, Y, Å, Ä and Ö.

The next challenge is to emphasize both the first and the last of the syllables of Lövestam.
Lövestam. Try to make the Ö and the M linger a bit more than you usually would: Lövestam. Lövestam means leaf trunk in Swedish, and it was my great-grandfather who thought it up. I'm sorry to everyone trying to pronounce it. It's okay if you call me Sara LOVE-IS-TAM. It's even okay with me when you call me Sara LOVE-STAM because I know it's hard and I do like love.
