Charles Veley: Hello. My name is Charles Veley.
The name Veley started off as a reference to Laval, a place in the lower Marne Valley of Normandy in France, where the family lived back in the days before the Normans conquered England. The old French word for valley is valee. In England, the Veleys lived in Northumberland, the northernmost county in England, just south of the border with Scotland. Those Veleys and their descendants eventually came over to America in the 1600s and after that spread all over the country of the USA. And the rest, as they say, is history.
So that's my name: Charles Veley.
