Kat Zhang: Hi. My name is Kat Zhang. Growing up, I . . . actually until the age of about twelve, I went by Kathy, Kathy Zhang. I actually wasn't a huge fan of my name. I felt like Kathy sounded kind of old-fashioned. None of my friends, nobody my age I knew was named Kathy and so, like I said, when I was around twelve I decided I was going to go by Kat. Not a huge change, but for me it was a really important way of remaking my name into something that I was proud of and that I identified with. And even to this day, decades later, I'm still proud whenever I look at my name because I feel like it's something that I chose for myself later on.
