Lois Duncan: Hello, my name is Lois Duncan. My maiden name was Lois Duncan Steinmetz and I was named after my mother. I started submitting stories to magazines when I was 10. I didn't want people to think Mother wrote those stories, so I decided to use my middle name, Duncan, as my professional name, and I've done that ever since.
