Lexi Haas: This is Susan and Lexi Haas, and we are here to tell you a little bit about our last name.

Lexi and I agree we like Haas because it's short and, at least in the United States, it's a little unusual. Haas is most often a German surname, but its roots are actually Dutch, and it translates to hare, as in the large rabbit, not the stuff growing on your head.

The hardest thing about our last name is that it's often misspelled. Maybe that's because in the United States, we aren't used to seeing two As together. It's not a very common vowel combination. People misspell it as H-A-S-S, even when I've had spelled it out for them letter by letter, H-A-A-S. It's like those two As just don't register.
