Sheree Fitch: Hi. My name is Sheree Fitch. When I was in grade two, I was asked to write a poem for Mrs. Goodwin, my grade two teacher. It was about my last name, Fitch, and it goes like this. I'm an itchy Fitch, and I live in a ditch, and I'm not very rich, and I look like a witch, and sometimes I itch. Mrs. Goodwin put that poem in the school fair, and that was the day I watched people walk by and read something I'd written. When they finished, they smiled, and I went, "Ah! Something I wrote could make somebody happy." That's when I decided that I wanted to grow up and write poems that could do that. I thank Mrs. Goodwin for that. It's all because of a grade two teacher that I became a poet and an author. That's the truth about my name.
