Gloria Skurzynski: Hello. My name is Gloria Skurzynski. Skurzynski is my husband's last name. Both his parents were born in Poland. My maiden name was Gloria Joan Flister, that's F-L-I-S-T-E-R. Sort of like blister with an F. I was named after two very famous movie actresses from long ago, Gloria Swanson and Joan Crawford. My dad loved show business and I guess he wanted me to be an actress, but I'm much happier as an author. I know having a name like Skurzynski on so many books is hard to pronounce, but you have to practice. Skur-zyn-ski, Gloria Skurzynski.
