Read Books, Spark Change
The 2023 Children's Book Week will be celebrated May 1–7 and November 6–12. The slogan chosen by the Children’s Book Council and Every Child a Reader for the 2023 Children’s Book Week is, “Read Books. Spark Change. Books and stories have the power to inspire change, to ignite a flame that inspires young readers to make a positive difference in the world.
The books on this list were chosen by the students of UCLA Lab School. Some of these books are about people who have stood up for change. Others educate students about important issues such as climate change, the environment, and social justice so that they also may work to make a difference.
