Sally Hobart Alexander: Hello. My name is Sally Hobart Alexander. I should say that wasn't always my name. I was named Sarah by my parents, but I think even before I left the hospital, they had begun to call me Sally. Now, I was never called Sarah except once a year by a brand new school teacher, and that person would ask, "Where is Sarah Hobart?" And all my friends would laugh and fall out of their desks because back then Sarah was associated with a woman in a log cabin or a covered wagon, and it was not a modern name. I love the name Sarah. I regret that I couldn't use it, although I'm very happy with Sally.
