Kathleen M. Blasi: Hello. My name is Kathleen McKelvin Blasi. McKelvin is the last name I had until I married Mr. Blasi. While I was born with the last name McKelvin, my first name took a little effort. You see, my parents had five sons before they had me. Assuming I would be yet another boy, they had only a boy's name, Christopher, picked out for me. They were not prepared for a daughter. So my dad went home from the hospital the night I was born and thought all night long. He bounced my name off my mom the next day and she approved. Although I'm not quite sure why they didn't pick Christine or Christina since I was supposed to be Christopher, I like Kathleen as it honors the Irish side of our family tree.
